Summary:
Starting off along the Round Mountain fire trail, this hike will take us up Mount Jagungal on the second day. After that, the trail heads over Tarn Bluff and on to the Geehi river area. Finally returning to Round Mountain fire trail via Dershekos Hut.

Getting There – Wollongong to Round Mountain(450km, 6hours)
Getting There – Sydney to Round Mountain(400km, 5 1/2hours)
Departing from Wollongong or Sydney, head for Cooma via Canberra. From Cooma follow the Snowy Mountains Hwy to Kiandra and then to Cabramurra. From here, find the Tooma Road for approximately 18kms to Round Mountain fire trail car park [GR 237 371 RMCARP].

DAY 0 - Round Mountain car park to Round Mountain hut (2kms 1/2 hour)
From the car park at the trail head, we walk to the south for about 1 1/2kms before taking the Farm Ridge trail to Round Mountain hut. This will be the first camp site for this trip.

DAY 1 - Round Mountain hut to Jugungal Saddle via O'Keefes Hut (15kms 6 hours)
From Round Mountain hut, we head off to the East for about 1km along Farm Ridge fire trail, before it turns to the South and crosses the Tumut River. Continue along Farm Ridge trail, mostly uphill from here ascending around 300m before we reach the top of the ridge line. The trail continues along the ridge for another 4 1/2km before intersecting with Grey Mare fire trail [GR 270 034 GMFRJNC].

From here, the track leads down the hill and across the Bogong Creek and back up the hill to O'Keefes Hut. Follow Bogong Creek valley from here to the south into Jagungal Saddle where camp will be set for the night.

DAY 2 - Mount Jagungal, tripple peaks to Geehi River (15kms 8 hours)
The morning will be spent ascending the Jagungal peak [GR 624800 5998699], which is 2062m high. Return back to the nights camp to collect packs and head south along the Tolong Range. From here the trail follows the Great Dividing Range to North Bulls Peak, Bulls Peak and South Bulls Peak. Once the legs recover, the trail continues to another two peaks, Mailbox hill and Cup And Saucer hill.

Finally, the trail turns back to the North and across Tarn Bluff [GR 268 933 TRNBLF] before descending to the Geehi River for the nights camp.

DAY 3 - Geehi River to The Town of Ross via the Strumbo Range (12-18kms 6 hours)
First order of day 3 is to cross the Geehi River, followed by climbing up the Strumbo Range to Strawberry Hill. From here we continue to the North West to Strumbo Hill, and then across to Grey Mare fire trail.

Heading North along Grey Mare fire trail, the track passes the Town Of Ross before crossing the Tooma River. Eventually we once again meet up with Round Mountain fire trail and end the day at Derschkos Hut [GR 217 994 DERSHUT].

DAY 4 - Derschkos Hut to Round Mountain car park (13kms 5 hours)
The final day will be spent following the Round Mountain fire trail to the North from Derschkos back to the car park. Don't be fooled by the short distance of today, there are a lot of hills between Derschkos and the car park!
